The unpretentious buildings, reflecting the sharp light in the unique and arid landscape of the Karoo inspired her. Technically, she enjoyed the challenge and worked only with a pallet knife, almost sculpting the landscape with oil on the canvas. Mixing and working with the paint until the sky became transparent in light, in contrast with the deep shadows of the buildings in the landscape.
